About our Courgette (Forty Hall Farm)

A portion of our wonderful courgettes. Known for being versatile and nutritious, our courgettes can be enjoyed many ways. They have a slightly sweet flavour and tender flesh. Our stripey courgettes are slightly nuttier, with a firmer flesh.

All our courgettes are grown organically, free from herbicides and pesticides. During the peak of courgette season at Forty Hall Farm, our growers need to go out and pick them every day to ensure they're harvest at their peak ripeness. And there are plenty of ways to enjoy courgettes - whether you want them in a ratatoille with some sweet, seasonal tomatoes or fried off with plenty of butter and garlic in a simple pasta dish. You can even bake them into a courgette cake!

Charred courgette pairs excellently with a light cheese like feta or goats cheese and lemon. Char them, sprinkle sea salt and lemon on top, crumble up some feta - sure to go down a treat at any BBQ.

Cooking tips for courgettes:
Courgettes have lots of water in them, so they are at risk of going soggy. Some ways to avoid soggy courgettes when cooking:
 

  • Ventilate – don’t overfill your frying pan when cooking them, stir frequently, or grill on a ribbed skillet where air can pass underneath.
  • Heat and speed – cooking courgettes quickly helps them not to get soggy. If frying, add them to an already hot pan, and stir frequently.
